In the English community of Crowthorne, Berkshire, there is a public school called Wellington College that is both a day and boarding independent school. Currently, Wellington, a recognised nonprofit, teaches about 1,200 students annually between the ages of 13 and 18. The college, which bears the name of the first Duke of Wellington (1769–1852), was constructed as a national memorial. Queen Victoria set the School’s foundation stone in 1856 and presided over its official inauguration on January 29, 1859.
23 students scored all 9s on the GCSE exam in 2022, and 22 students scored all 9s save one. 74.3% of all grades were 9s or 8s, accounting for 47.7% of all grades granted.
In the 2022 A Level exams, 37.4% of the results were A* and 74.5% were A* or A. 94.8% of the students received A*-B grades, and 51 students received A*AA or above, while 22 students received all A*s.

Wellington College Admissions Guide for 13 Plus Entry
Registration is the initial stage of the admissions procedure. The deadline to register your kid for 13+ admission is in June of Year 5, however you can do so at any time. Please visit the school website to enrol your child for entrance at age 13 or above.
A £300 non-refundable registration fee will be required of you. Your kid will be given the opportunity to take the ISEB Pretest in Stage 1, which covers English, Math, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Your child will participate in an assessment day at Wellington in Stage 2 (Jan/Feb Year 6), which consists of a number of activities and an interview with a senior member of staff.
2023 Wellington College 13+ Exam Format
The 13+ pre-assessment at Wellington College has Common Pretest for ISEB as a 13+ exam format.
The ISEB Pretest evaluates your child’s aptitude in areas including vocabulary, problem-solving, and numeracy, with a focus on how they process information and react to the curriculum. Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning are all covered in separate test modules.
Wellington College Bursaries and Scholarships
At 13+ Before entering the College, academic and musical scholarships and exhibitions are made available through a test and interview procedure that takes place in Year 8. Candidates must be less than 14 on September 1 of the year they plan to enter. But the College’s seven top academic honours—our named Scholarships—are given out at the conclusion of the Third Form (Year 9).
Sports, art, dance, and drama scholarships are also available, but not until after a student has enrolled in Wellington College, at the conclusion of the third form. However, those who are most likely to be interested in these Scholarships are encouraged to attend an Inspire Day during Year 8’s Lent term. The Inspire Days provide students the chance to showcase their skills and prior work to our professors while also getting a taste of the extension programme that will be offered to them in the Third Form and beyond.
Open Days
The most popular time to travel to Wellington is during Visitors Days. These occasions, which start at 10.30 a.m. on Saturdays, offer a quick and efficient opportunity to undertake a first visit to the College. The Master addresses guests in our spectacular theatre with assistance from a student panel and senior staff after refreshments in Great School. The next step is a chance to take a campus tour with a current student. Those who desire to stay will be able to eat a small lunch starting at 1pm.
