Nottingham High School 11 Plus Guide

With an infant, junior School (ages 4–11), and senior School, Nottingham High School is an independent, fee-charging day public school for boys and girls in Nottingham, England (ages 11–18). In the 2019–2020 academic year, there were 738 students enrolled, 151 of them were in the sixth form and preparing for advanced certificate exams.

Students at Nottingham High School are jubilant this week after receiving fantastic GCSE results. The class of this year did exceptionally well; 64.5% of the grades earned were at the level of Grades 8 and 9. Grade 7 or higher made up 85.6% of the grades. Amazingly, 10 students obtained the equivalent of at least 10 9th graders, and 25 students gained the equivalent of at least 10th graders in the 8th through 9th grades. In all, 64.5% of passes were at the highest grade, which is 9.

A spectacular set of A Level results were announced today for Nottingham High School, with 44% of all passes coming in at the top A* grade and 78.4% at A* and A grades. 66 students—quite a surprising number—have earned three A or higher grades. At least 31 pupils received three A* marks, and eight received four.

Nottingham High School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

Academically, Nottingham High School is selective. Each year, there are about 70 openings for external applicants.The entrance exam includes written papers in math and English as well as a computer-based reasoning test (CEM Select). A hundred or so candidates are invited for an interview after the test.

2023 Nottingham High School 11+ Exam Format 

The Nottingham High School admission test consists of an English essay, a math essay, and a test of computational reasoning (CEM Select). The English exam gauges your child’s writing and comprehension abilities, while the maths exam gauges their arithmetic and problem-solving abilities. The verbal, nonverbal, and numerical thinking abilities of your kid are tested on the online reasoning test (CEM Select). Their age and admission year make the test acceptable for them.

Nottingham High School Bursaries and Scholarships 

At the end of Year 7, the top-performing students are automatically given Academic Part Scholarships, which are predetermined amounts. These cannot be applied for; all new Year 7 students will automatically be considered. The Sir Thomas White entry scholarships are what they are called. In the first term of Year 7, the music department holds auditions for music scholarships. As a general rule, students should be at least in Grade 4 on their primary instrument to apply (although they need not have the official examined grades). Other than music, no other disciplines or pursuits are presently eligible for scholarships.
