2023 Exeter School 11+ Exam Format
The Exeter School admission exam consists of two written tests and a computer-based evaluation:
- Reading comprehension and creative writing for the English paper
- Mathematics Assignment: Problem-solving and Arithmetic
- Computer-Based Assessment: Numerical, Verbal, and Nonverbal
Multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and complete-the-word question types will all be present in the computer-based assessment. It evaluates candidates’ verbal, nonverbal, and numerical thinking abilities and is meant to enable applicants to show off their academic aptitude.
Exeter School Bursaries and Scholarships
Scholarships are available from Exeter School for students who excel in their chosen fields. Scholarships are provided for students that succeed in the arts, theatre, music, and sports at the 11+, 13+, and 16+ age levels. Academic scholarships are given to new students at Exeter School based on the results of entrance exams taken in January of the entering year. Based on their performance in the exams and interviews, all applicants who have enrolled for the 11+, 13+, and 16+ examinations are automatically considered for an academic scholarship or exhibition.

- How Old Do Children Have To Be To Enrol In School?
The primary access points for students are Years 3, 5, 7, 9 and 12, although if there is room, students may also enrol at other entry points.
We also offer The New School, a pre-prep located in Exminster, for boys and girls in the Nursery to Year 2 who are 3 to 7 years old.
- How Many Kids Are In The Class?
The following are average class sizes across the school:
Classes in the seventh through ninth grades typically include 18 to 25 students.
At the GCSE level, the majority of courses have between 10 and 22 students, with an average class size closer to 16. The average class size at A Level is 8, however it can vary from three to fifteen students. One of the school’s advantages is its one-to-one instruction, both inside and outside of the classroom. Even if it’s on a casual level, teachers are happy to spend time with students at lunch and breaks. Everybody’s requirements are fulfilled through clinics that address emerging issues in topics like maths.
