Churcher’s College 11 Plus Guide

Churcher’s College is a co-educational independent day school. The College was established in 1722. It has a Senior School for pupils aged 11-18, located in the market town of Petersfield, Hampshire. The School also has a Junior School and Nursery for pupils aged 2-11 located in Liphook. The College has a capacity of 1320 and educates around 1241 pupils. The current headmaster is Simon H. L. Williams. 

In 2022 GCSEs, 25.5% grades 9, 48.6% grades 8/9, 73.3% grades 7/8/9.

In 2022 A Levels, 40.6% grades A*, 71.8% grades A*-A.  77% of Churcher’s College students made their first choice, with a further 17% their second.

Churcher’s College Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

Attending public activities is highly advised. After determining that Churcher’s is the best option for your kid, you should sign them up for admission. A computer-based test plus an interview make up the admissions procedure. References from your current school will be required. No later than 10 days following the admission exam, letters informing candidates of their results are sent (held in late January). There is no cutoff date for registration. Contact the admissions staff if you want further details.

2023 Churcher’s College 11+ Exam Format 

Churcher’s College’s 11+ test includes the following evaluation:

Online exam (similar to ISEB Common Pretest)

The online test will evaluate your child’s aptitude in areas like vocabulary, problem-solving, and numeracy, with a focus on how they process information and react to the curriculum. It comprises modules that assess verbal, nonverbal, verbal reasoning, maths, and English.

Churcher’s College Bursaries and Scholarships 

Academic scholarships: Academic Scholarships and exhibitions are given out in honour of a student’s outstanding academic performance and/or service to the school’s or Petersfield’s larger community. Exhibitions may also be given to those who participate extremely well in school-related activities.

Music scholarships and performances: The majority of music scholarships are given out at the 11+ grade level, while exceptional individuals may be taken into consideration at any age. Music Exhibitions are devoted to a particular instrument and pay for private training.

Open Days

You have the opportunity to visit Churcher’s College in person and observe it during a “typical” school day by attending “School in Action” events.

The Headmaster will give a welcome address at these events, and kids are welcome to accompany you on a small-group tour of the school led by a member of the Sixth Form.

Beyond the Classroom

The performing arts department at Churcher’s is vibrant and home to a variety of musical organisations and ensembles, including the Brass Ensemble, the Jazz Club, the Barbershop Chorus, and the full Orchestra. Weekly activities include rehearsals for school plays, Shakespeare in the Park, dance club and musical theatre, and improvisation. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is available to students from the age of 14 and up. Students in the second year are introduced to OSCA (Outdoor Survival, Challenge, and Adventure), and students in the third through sixth forms have the opportunity to participate in the First Challenge (short haul) and World Challenge (long haul) expeditions.
