Cheltenham Ladies’ College is an independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18. The School is located in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, founded in 1853. The College now educates around 885 pupils, 708 are boarders. The entry point of the College is at 11+, 13+ or 16+. If the College has vacancies, pupils could also join at 12+ and 14+ too. Entry is via assessments and College’s own exams.

In 2022 GCSEs, 80.1% grades 9/8, 92.2% grades 9/8/7. In 2022 A levels,  43.2% grades A*, 76.7% grades A*-A, 93.6% grades A*-B.

Open Day date: Year 7 (11+) admission experience day is scheduled for September 17, 2022, from 9.45 am to 3 pm.

Application Open Morning for 2024 and 2025 is scheduled on Friday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Open Morning for 2024 and 2025 applications will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 10 am to 12 pm.

Open Day will take place on March 11, 2023, from 9.30 am to 2 pm.

Cheltenham Ladies’ College Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

Around 75 students, 50 boarders and 25 day females, from junior schools around Gloucestershire, the UK, and other countries enrol at LC1 (Year 7 / 11+) each September. They enrol in one of our nine junior Houses (six of which are boarding and three of which are day), where they are taught in mixed-ability classes in the majority of their courses by Lower College specialists who also serve as their mentors throughout their first two years at the institution.

The application procedure to enrol in LC1 (Year 7 / 11+) in September 2023 is outlined below. Use this timetable as a guide since subsequent years will go similarly.

The deadline for enrolling in college in September 2023 is already over.

2023 Cheltenham Ladies’ College 11+ Exam Format 

The college’s admission exams in the following subject areas are required of all 11+ applicants:

English and Maths

Spelling, grammar, and inference are among the comprehension and writing abilities that are stressed in the English paper.

Arithmetic and problem-solving abilities are tested in the maths exam. There will be questions on measuring, geometry, algebra, and statistics on the test.

Cheltenham Ladies’ College Bursaries and Scholarships 

Scholarship applications may be submitted at the ages of 11, 13, and 16. The applicants for Lower College who do the highest on the admission exams are asked to participate in the scholarship evaluation procedure. The scholarship examinations, which include practical evaluations, group projects, and interviews, will take place at CLC in February (for more information, check our 11+ important dates page and 13+ key dates page).

Beyond the Classroom
