St Albans High School is a selective, independent day school for girls aged 4 – 18. The School has Preparatory School which educates around 328 pupils, Junior School and Senior School (educates 900 pupils and 186 sixth formers). The entry point of St ALbans High School is at Year 3, Year 7 and Year 12.

In 2022 GCSEs, 75.6% grades 8/9, 90.4% grades 7/8/9.

In 2022 A Levels, 45.1% grades A*, 76.9% grades A*-A.

2023 St Albans High School 11+ Exam Format 

St. Albans High School for Girls’ admission examination consists of ISEB Common Pretest and a writing task in English. The pretest evaluates verbal, nonverbal, verbal reasoning, maths, and English skills. The English paper is a composition assignment, and marks will be given for originality, creativity, and use of correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

St Albans High School Bursaries and Scholarships 

Scholarships are given out to 11+ students based on their achievement throughout the screening procedure. There isn’t a separate test for academic scholarships. Prior to the admission exam in December, boys must register by the end of November. On the basis of an audition, choral and music scholarships are only given out upon application or entrance at the age of 11. Prior to receiving an award, recipients must fulfil the academic and application requirements for taking the 11+ entrance test.

Open Days

They are giving a limited amount of daytime excursions to families interested in entrance in 2022 who are 11 or older and at least 13 years old. To reserve your spot, please get in touch with the Registrar here. The following Open morning will take place on Saturday, April 22. A booking window will open in January.

  • Do I need to make a reservation if I want to attend an Open Morning?

Yes, we typically host four Open Mornings year. However, due to high demand, we ask that you reserve your spot by visiting our website. For information about the upcoming event, please see the Open Morning section of the website.

  • Can I return to the school after attending an open morning?

You can sign up for a daytime tour throughout the week by emailing the admissions office at admissions@st-albans.herts.sch.uk. You can also attend another Open Morning. Three times a week, one of our prefects leads these.

  • What are the fees for each term?

The current costs for 2022–23 are £21,282 (£7,094) per year or per term. These will be examined in the summer of 2023.
