In Reading, Berkshire, England, there is a private girls-only day school called The Abbey School. Girls from three to 18 years old can get education at The Abbey School. The school is located on Kendrick Road in the heart of Reading. Will le Fleming is the current Head. From junior through sixth form, the school has little over 1,000 pupils enrolled in 2006. In 2008, the school earned the designation of International Baccalaureate World School. The IB cohort scored an average of 39.6 points in 2020 compared to a global average of 30.

The Abbey School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

A non-refundable registration fee of £100 (£250 for international candidates) and the online application form must be submitted in order to submit an application. The entering year’s December marks the deadline. All applications have been received by the school, which will soon give out information on the admissions procedure.

Interview Day, which typically takes place in the Autumn Term of Year 6, is attended by all applicants for Upper III (Year 7) admittance to The Abbey. A workshop, activity time, and a brief informal interview are all included in the event to help you learn more about your daughter’s personality, interests, and abilities.

Girls in Year 6 who have enrolled to take the entrance exam will get an invitation to an interview day at the Abbey in the fall semester. The girls now get a chance to experience life at The Abbey firsthand. Your daughter will take part in a workshop, an activity session, a brief informal interview, and other activities during the half-day to help us better understand her interests and viewpoints. There will be a lunch break. Your kid will become a part of the Abbey community, meet new people, and begin to get to know her instructors.

2023 The Abbey School 11+ Exam Format 

On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, the entrance exam will be held.

Our entrance examination assessments, which gauge potential, are based on the national curriculum. Exams in English (one hour – writing and comprehension), Mathematics (one hour), and Reasoning will be given to applicants (45 minutes – verbal and non-verbal).

The Abbey School Bursaries and Scholarships 

Academic Scholarships from The Abbey honour students who exhibit a distinctive fusion of brilliance, flair, and desire.

At various times throughout a student’s academic career, they have the chance to apply for an academic scholarship. For individuals applying for a Sixth Form Academic Scholarship, the examination is held in the Autumn Term of Year 11; for those entering Year 7 as freshmen, we offer an Academic Scholarship paper in the Spring Term of Year 6. They provide specialist scholarships for anyone who excel in any of the arts, drama, music, or sports.Throughout a student’s academic career, there are many opportunities to be evaluated for a Specialist Scholarship. Assessments for Year 7 applicants take place in Year 6’s Spring Term.

Beyond the Classroom

They are a community run by students, and they actively participate in deciding what extracurricular activities will be offered and how they will be organised. There is something for everyone to be interested in and inspired by, whether it is Taekwondo, small Bridge Club, hiking, or Chess Club.
