Wycombe Abbey Frances Dove Way, High Wycombe HP11 1PE
In High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England, there is a private girls boarding and day school called Wycombe Abbey. It consistently ranks among the best all-girls institutions in terms of academic performance. Dame Frances Dove (1847–1942), a former headmistress of St Leonards School in Scotland, founded the institution in 1896. There are currently 650 females there, ranging in age from 11 to 18. Jo Duncan is the headmistress at the moment. In 2022 GCSEs, as in previous years, there was a 100% pass rate; 96.4% of all exams resulted in a level 9, level 8, or level 7, with 89.6% of exams receiving a level 8 or 9. In 2022 A Levels, This year 63.5% of all results were graded A* and 90.7% at A*-B.

2023 Wycombe Abbey 11+ Exam Format
Stage 1: Pretest
The CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test), a pre-test for Wycombe Abbey, measures verbal, non-verbal, spatial, and quantitative reasoning. Ahead of the pre-tests, you can boost your confidence by doing our free mock exams CAT4 practise tools.
Stage 2: Test of Cognitive Abilities (CAT4)
Wycombe Abbey Bursaries and Scholarships
Although they have little monetary worth, Wycombe Abbey Academic Scholarship and Exhibition Awards are highly regarded. For 2023, the following honours are available:
- Scholarships for academic study worth up to 5% of annual fees
- Academic Exhibitions at a cost of £600 annually
Process
For a Scholarship or Exhibition Award, there is no application process. A chosen group of students will be asked to sit the Wycombe Abbey Scholarship exams after the 11+ Assessment Day. In addition to a Language Aptitude test, they will take exams in English, mathematics, science, and humanities. While your child is in Year 6, the Scholarship exams are taken at Wycombe Abbey in late January or early February prior to entry. There are no specimen papers available. Open Days
Wycombe Abbey welcomed close to 2000 viewers to its online open day broadcast. There were six live presentations with question and answer sessions with staff and students, in addition to a drone tour of the 170-acre site and 56 pieces of content on the Experience page that featured all the departments (even the beekeeping organisation!). Visiting Wycombe Abbey will give you a sense of our culture, community and environment. You are welcome to visit us in-person or online at an Open Morning or Coffee Morning. Through these events you will have the opportunity to gain a flavour of our academic, pastoral and co-curricular provision, and discover what stimulates and inspires life and work at Wycombe Abbey.
