School Introduction
Weald of Kent Grammar school has two sites across Tonbridge and Sevenoaks, they are both close to the A21 road and a walkable distance from mainline railway stations with direct services to London. Whilst the school is easily accessible it is also situated in large grounds with expansive views across the Kent countryside. The school aims to promote enjoyment of learning along with pride and desire for success among all its students. Their most recent Ofsted report offered high praise of the headteacher – who was formerly a student at the school, in her clear drive and leadership towards the success of the school, as well as excellent teamwork and a ‘driving force’ behind the schools growing achievements. Due to the schools continued success they were given permission to expand the Tonbridge site to include a purpose built Annexe in Sevenoaks. As well as this they have recently invested in the Tonbridge site which now has a brand-new Sports halls and Sixth Form Hub which strives to provide university style facilities.

School Performance – Key Figures at GCSE & A Level Results
Progress 8 – This score indicates the progress made by pupils at the school between the end of KS2 and the end of KS4. It’s averaged against the pupils across England and based on the results in 8 key qualifications including English, Maths Sciences, Humanities and Languages. Looking at the students’ achievements and progress from the end of primary school and throughout secondary school. Weal of Kent Grammar 11 Plus Admission Information 2024
Students entering the school in year 7 must have received a place through the Kent selective process or PESE process. This means obtaining the required score in the Kent Assessment Test 11+ (required score decided by Kent Council). The published admissions number (PAN) for the schools September 2024 entry is 270, split as 180 at the Tonbridge Campus and 90 at the Sevenoaks Campus. Currently this number is also the same for 2024 entry.
The catchment area for the school is separated into 3 sections, A – which will receive top priority, then B – which will receive the next priority and finally C. The distance from the child’s home to the designated OS reference point of the Tonbridge School Campus will be used in conjunction with the A, B, C priority levels. These categories are as follows.
A. Tonbridge Town, the District of Sevenoaks, and the Parishes of Ightham, Ivy Hatch, Kings Hill, Pembury, Platt and St Mary’s Platt, Plaxtol and Shipbourne. (Please see appendix 4 for postcodes and/or boundary details.)
B. All TN Postcodes apart from TN1, TN2 and TN4 (with the exception of the Parish of Pembury)
C. All other Postcodes including TN1, TN2 and TN4.

Weald of Kent Grammar 11 Plus Familiarisation Guides
Students must meet the school’s academic requirements through proving successful in the ‘Kent Test’ also known as the 11+. Parents need to register their children for the Kent Test between June and July of Year 5 and the tests are then sat in October of Year 6, usually at the Child’s Primary School. There are two tests – one reasoning made up of verbal, non-verbal and spatial reasoning questions, the other is split into two sections which cover English and Mathematics questions.

This Kent Test will be required for all grammar schools in the Kent area, and students will only need to sit the test once to apply to multiple schools. They will submit a local authority school selection form and will be assigned to their school looking at the highest choice secondary to which the child is accepted.
Key Dates for Weald of Kent Grammar 11 Plus 2024 Entry is likely to follow a similar pattern if it is decided that the test will take place.

The school teaches the national curriculum along with latter opportunities to partake in further subjects like Food and Nutrition, Theatre Studies, Dance, Business Studies, and also has a wide ranging availability of A-Level’s like; Media Studies, Further Mathematical Studies, Politics, Sociology and Psychology and even Dance A-Level.
Extra-Curricular
The school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities like Art, Sports, History, Science, Book Club, Maths Leaders, Film Club, Gymnastics, Music, Dance, Drama, Chess, Modern Foreign Languages as well as skiing and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
