St John’s Cardiff Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry
Your child will be required to take an admission exam and attend an interview in order to enrol at St. John’s at the 11+ level. They will also be asked for reports and recommendations from their current school. You may get an official, written offer of a place after successfully completing all necessary steps in the admissions process. The offer must be accepted by making a nonrefundable payment.

2023 St John’s Cardiff 11+ Exam Format
The 11 plus exam in St John’s Cardiff includes 3 sections: English, Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
The English test looks at both reading comprehension and writing abilities, including vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. Good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesiveness, and sentence structure will get you points.
The maths test evaluates your child’s aptitude for computation and problem-solving. Questions on measuring, geometry, algebra, and statistics may be present on the test.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning test assesses candidates’ comprehension, interpretation, and problem-solving skills rather than their knowledge.
St John’s Cardiff Bursaries and Scholarships
For students in R12 and R14, there are three academic scholarships (5%) offered each year. Students take academic scholarship tests in R11 (in English and Math) and R13 (in Maths, English and Science).
