Haberdashers’ Girls’ School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry
Every applicant must pass an entrance exam that consists of written essays on mathematics and English proficiency.
The questions on fiction and non-fiction texts in the English exam test students’ comprehension, inference, and evaluation skills. There will also be a brief directed writing exercise that will allow them to show their proficiency in writing effectively for a particular purpose and audience.
The purpose of the maths exam is to gauge your capacity for logical and mathematical thought. It addresses addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with applications to fractions, decimals, percentages, the metric system of weights and measures, the 12 and 24-hour clock, time problems, and inquiries involving geometric shapes and bar graphs. It also covers the metric system of weights and measures. Calculators are not allowed to be used.

The following papers are included in the 11+ test at Haberdashers’ School for Girls:
English and Maths
The English paper is divided into two parts. A collection of readings from both fiction and non-fiction genres can be found in Section A. In order for the school to assess the candidates’ comprehension and analytical abilities, they must respond to a variety of questions. Candidates are required to answer to one of several directed writing projects in Section B, which will allow them to show their proficiency in writing effectively for a particular purpose and audience.

Haberdashers’ Girls’ School Bursaries and Scholarships
Academic bursaries
Academic scholarships are made available to applicants for admittance at the 11+ grade level who obtained exceptional performance on the entrance exam and in the subsequent interviews. There is no need to submit a separate application, and we don’t organise any additional scholarship exams. Scholarships typically range from 10% to 20% of fees (up to 30% in rare cases), and they are valid for the remainder of the student’s tenure at Habs, provided that they maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and participate in extracurricular activities.

Open Days
At the 9.15am School in Action Mornings for the 4+, 7+, and 11+ grades, current students will give you a tour of the school. This will be followed by refreshments and a Q&A session with the Headmistress and other important staff members. The morning is scheduled to end about 10.45am.

Beyond the Classroom
Students in the Lower Sixth have the opportunity to study subjects that are not included in the A Level Curriculum thanks to HBS Girls’ innovative enrichment programme. This might be a topic that they subsequently decide to pursue at the university, one that will complement their A level options, or simply something that interests them. Students get a comprehensive and balanced curriculum as well as practical skills and knowledge through a well designed enrichment studies programme, half of which is administered in conjunction with the Boys’ School.

No. We enrol nearly the same amount of kids from independent and managed schools. They bring a diversity of experiences and passions, which makes for a great blend in the classroom. Our paper is based on abilities taught within the National Curriculum, therefore no coaching or preparation is necessary other than what your kid is already doing in school to demonstrate this. We are trying to measure potential and the capacity to think independently.
