Guildford High School is an independent day school for girls that was founded in 1888. Approximately 1,000 girls between ages 4 to 18 attend the school from Guildford and its surrounding towns and villages. The school comprises a Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form. In GCSEs, 71% of grades were 9 and 90% were 9-8; in 2019, 69% of grades were 9 and 88% were 9-8. In 2020, A level students achieved a 100% overall pass rate; 55% of grades were A* and 90% of grades were A*-A. In 2019, 43% of grades were A* and 80% of grades were A*-A.

Guildford High 11 Plus Entry Guide
Although you can register your daughter at any time, she must be enrolled by November 1st of the year prior to the anticipated entry date in order to sit for the entrance exam for a spot in Year 7. There is a £150 registration fee that is due. In Year 7, there are about 100 openings at Guildford High School. Usually, 40 of these spots are reserved for current students, while the remaining spots are for new students who are 11 or older. Guildford High School has a stringent admissions policy. Results from an entrance exam, an interview, and recommendations from previous institutions are taken into consideration when deciding whether to award a candidate a spot.

2023 Guildford High 11 Plus Format

Guildford High School Bursaries and Scholarships
Based on the outcomes of interviews and entrance exams, academic scholarships are given out. On the primary entrance evaluation day, all applicants who take the entrance exam are automatically eligible for scholarships. Both internal and external candidates may apply for scholarships, which have a value of up to 5% of the application price. Potential music scholars are expected to meet our standard academic standards for enrollment before being invited to audition for the music scholarship. Candidates should typically be at least Grade 4-5 proficient on their orchestral instrument. They should also play with distinction. Candidates should typically provide a second instrument, as predicted. Awards have a maximum value of 5% of fees.

A tour of the school with students in Year 5 or 6 will follow a discussion from our Head of Junior School, Mr. Allistair Williamson, at the start of a junior visit. Additionally, there will be a chance for casual conversation with Mr. Williamson, senior professors, and the admissions staff.
