Dulwich College Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry
Each academic year, about 70 boys from a variety of primary schools and private institutions enter the Lower School in Year 7 (age 11). Additionally, students from Dulwich College Junior School advance to Year 7, bringing the total number of boys in the year group to about 125.
The offer of a place at the College is made in accordance with the College’s Standard Terms and Conditions and is based on the candidate’s performance in the relevant examination, during the interview, and in the Head of the candidate’s current school’s report.

2024 Dulwich College 11+ Exam Format
The entrance examination for applicants to Year 7 (11+) includes English and Maths papers for the CAT4 Cognitive Abilities Test. The Verbal, Non-Verbal, Spatial, and Quantitative Reasoning modules of the CAT4 test are intended to evaluate developed abilities. While the maths exam measures arithmetic and problem-solving ability, the English paper assesses comprehension and writing abilities.
Dulwich College Bursaries and Scholarships
Academic scholarships: Boys who do extraordinarily well and achieve the best scores in their exam and interview are given academic scholarships. Academic scholarships are automatically awarded to all boys who take the admission exams; they are not based on financial need. Scholarships can be worth up to 30% of the cost of tuition.
Music scholarships for admission into the Lower School (Year 7): Candidates should preferably be able to play two instruments, the first of which should be an orchestral instrument. On an individual basis, candidates with excellent skill (Grade 8+) on any one instrument will be given favourable consideration. Open Days
Families interested in entering the seventh grade in 2024 can go and see Dulwich College starting in May. At the end of March, please visit the website for the dates and the button to make a reservation. Families can call the admissions staff at any time, and they will be pleased to discuss the application process and address any specific questions they may have.

Beyond the Classroom
Sports, theatre, and music are all important aspects of the boys’ life both inside and outside of the classroom. Boys at Dulwich participate in weekly activities, many trips, and adventurous activities outside of the College as part of a long-standing heritage in Scouting and CCF. The Duke of Edinburgh Award has grown in popularity over the past few years, along with charity giving and other forms of community service.
