Alleyn’s School is an independent, co-educational day school for boys and girls aged 4–18. The school is located in Dulwich, London, England. Alleyn’s School has both Junior and Senior school, which educates around 1,300 pupils in total. In 2022 GCSEs, 56% of grades were top grade 9, 80% of grades were grades 9 and 8, 93% of grades were grades 9-7. At the same time, 27 pupils gained 10 or more grade 9s, 59 pupils gained 10 or more grade 9 and 8s. In 2022 A levels, 55% grades A*, 81% grades A*-A.

Alleyn’s School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

The 11+ application deadline is in November of the year before entrance. Paper-based tests are part of the admissions process, which begins in January of Year 6. Selected candidates will return to the school around the end of the same month to take part in a group activity and attend an interview. Please be aware that acceptance of a spot requires payment of a deposit, which is repaid when your child departs Alleyn’s, as well as a registration charge of £175, which is non-refundable.

2023 Alleyn’s School 11+ Exam Format 

The 11+ admission test for Alleyn’s School consists of English, Maths and Reasoning. The English test looks at both reading comprehension and writing abilities, including vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. Good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesiveness, and sentence structure will get you points. Arithmetic and problem-solving skills are evaluated in the maths test. There will be questions on measuring, geometry, algebra, and statistics on the test. The Verbal Reasoning component of the Reasoning paper is largely meant to evaluate and test logical reasoning, vocabulary use, and language use. The Non-Verbal Reasoning part tests logic and intellect rather than knowledge, measuring the capacity for comprehension, interpretation, and 

Alleyn’s School Bursaries and Scholarships 

Alleyn’s School provides a variety of means-tested bursaries and (non-means-tested) scholarships, enabling us to accept students regardless of their financial situation whose admission exam results show they would thrive at Alleyn’s. In addition, students who exhibit extraordinary musical talent during the music scholarship audition may be eligible for means-tested bursary aid from the WJ Smith Trust, which can cover up to 100% of the School tuition.

Beyond the Classroom

Each semester, a vast array of extracurricular activities are given to students. In addition to hockey, basketball, netball, athletics, tennis, and swimming, there are 60 weekly sports clubs (not including matches and fixtures, which feature over 150 teams playing more than 1,200 competitive games annually). Beyond the classroom, there are more than 180 engaging co-curricular opportunities to pick from, such as cooking, molecular gastronomy, art, design, film, and photography, classics, debating, Alleyn’s Radio, podcast club, gardening, model UN, and science.
