Founded in 1206, Colchester Royal Grammar School is a very old school. The academic history of Colchester Royal Grammar School dates back to the sixteenth century and the school was granted two Royal Charters by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Colchester Royal Grammar School is an 11-18 year old school for boys and admits girls to the co-educational sixth form. Colchester Royal Grammar School is one of the few state boarding schools in the city and has family-style boarding flats designed for 30 sixth formers. This design also adds to the school’s multicultural and distinctive education. In addition, Colchester Royal Grammar School offers a wide range of trips, exchanges and extra-curricular activities to enrich the students’ education.
