Bancroft’s School 11 Plus Guide

It might be difficult to find your way around the 11 Plus the first time as a parent. How do you aid your kid in getting ready for the Bancroft’s School 11 Plus Exam? Co-educational independent day school Bancroft’s School is situated in Woodford Green, London Borough of Redbridge. There are now 800 students in the Senior School and 200 students in the Preparatory School, totaling around 1,000 students between the ages of 7 and 18.

In 2022, 80.2% of all GCSEs at Bancroft’s received the highest grades of 9 or 8; 93.5% received either a 9/8/7; and 99.9% received a grade of 5 or higher. A cohort of 129 students saw 18 students obtain 10 grade 9s, while one student received eleven. 

In A levels, Students at Bancroft earned 45.1% of A*s and 93% of examinations resulted in grades between A* and B. In a class of 102 students, 23 students achieved three or more A*s.

Bancroft’s School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

You must submit the registration form and pay a non-refundable registration fee of £125 in order for your kid to be considered for 11+ admittance to Bancroft’s School. The registration deadline is at the start of December of the year before admission (while your child is in Year 6) 

At Bancroft’s School, admission to Year 7 is granted based on achievement in competitive entrance exams and an interview. Your child’s most recent school reports will be taken into account.

2023 Bancroft’s School 11+ Exam Format 

Three tests are included in the entrance exam at Bancroft’s School: CEM Select, Maths and English 

The CEM Select online test evaluates your child’s verbal reasoning, nonverbal reasoning, and numerical reasoning abilities.

Inference, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation are among the writing and comprehension abilities that are tested in the English exam. The use of innovation, imagination, shape, organisation, coherence, and sentence structure will all receive points. In January before admission, entrance exams are administered. On January 10, 2023, we will have our entrance exams for September 2023 admittance at 11+ (into Year 7). Children complete three papers: a short English paper, a short maths paper, and an online thinking exam.

Bancroft’s School Bursaries and Scholarships 

Children who enrol at 7+, 11+, and 16+ are eligible for assisted places (bursaries), according to Bancroft. Only Assisted Places that assist kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend the school are eligible for fee waivers.

Open Days

The calendar of open events for 11+ entry in September 2023 has now been completed by Bancroft’s. In June and November, they have Open Mornings for 11+ access. They also often host Tour Mornings throughout the Autumn Term, allowing you to visit Bancroft’s during business hours. Details for the following event, which will take place in June 2023, will be posted on this page as they are confirmed. All of our Open Events require previous reservations. Booking will start in late spring 2023 for our June Open Morning.

Beyond the Classroom

All students are encouraged to take part in the school’s co-curricular activities, which are offered in a very broad variety at Bancroft’s. There are more than a hundred clubs and organisations available, so there is something for everyone.

FAQ

  • WHAT AGE DO CHILDREN VISIT BANCROFT’S?

Bancroft’s has two primary admission ages: 7+ (into Year 3) and 11+ (into Year 7). There is a third, smaller entry age of 16+. (into the Sixth Form). The number of students in our Year 8 will determine whether or not we conduct admissions examinations for 13+ admittance (into Year 9).

  • CAN I APPLY AFTER MY CHILD IS BORN OR AFTER?

No. More than a year in advance of the admission tests, registration is not necessary.

  • CAN I VIEW EVERYWHERE IN THE SCHOOL?
