Preparing for Alcester Grammar 11 Plus Exam

Currently, Warwickshire and the Grammar Schools in Birmingham Foundation jointly administer the 11+ test. Both authorities use the same exam questions, and applicants who want to apply to grammar schools in both areas can choose to have their scores shared between the two authorities. Two examination papers, each lasting around 60 minutes, make up the Alcester Grammar School 11 Plus exam. They include:

  • Understanding English
  • Verbal Analysis
  • Mathematics
  • Verbal and spatial reasoning combined

Inference is one of the comprehension abilities tested on the English Comprehension exam. There won’t be any writing involved. The Verbal Reasoning component of the test evaluates vocabulary, logical reasoning, and English language usage. The maths exam includes questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra, and statistics as well as problems that test problem-solving and arithmetic skills.
