Girls aged seven to eighteen may attend Withington Girls’ School, an independent day school in Fallowfield, Manchester, United Kingdom. Withington belongs to both the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference and the Girls’ Schools Association.

Withington Girls’ School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry
You can get the application form for Year 7 entrance from the school’s website. It must be submitted by the December deadline of the year preceding entry. This also entails paying a £50 non-refundable registration fee.
Academically, Withington Girls’ School is selective. Every candidate for admission into Year 7 must complete an entrance exam, which is held in January.
Shortlisted candidates will get an invitation to a general interview with a senior staff member following the entrance exam. In general, interviews happen three to four weeks after the exam. Additionally, Withington will ask the head of your daughter’s current school to provide a formal recommendation.

July & August 2023 | Families that register with us will receive information about pertinent admissions events in the Autumn Term of 2022 during the Summer Break, as well as opportunities to sign up for these activities. During the summer, applications will be accepted for students entering Year 7 in the fall of 2023. |
October 2023 | This term, there are two Withington in Action activities. This is a chance to experience a portion of a school day at WGS, as well as to meet the Headmistress and other senior staff members and speak with our admissions team. Limited spots are available on a “first come, first served” basis. Visitors will be shown around the school by current students and will see lessons in classrooms. Parents who fill out our inquiry form will be contacted when ticket sales for these events begin. |

2023 Withington Girls’ School 11+ Exam Format
There are 3 parts to Withington Girls’ School exam.
- English: Reading comprehension (45 minutes) :Essay (35 minutes)
- Maths (basic skills and problem solving) (basic skills and problem solving): Paper 1 (30 minutes), Paper 2 (40 minutes)
- Verbal Analysis (50 minutes)
Withington Girls’ School Bursaries and Scholarships
Bursaries can cover anything from 10% to 100% of the annual tuition, depending on the financial situation of the parents as a whole. Parents who are provided a 100% bursary with the cost of uniform, music or theatre courses, and field excursions may also be eligible for additional support.
Open Days
Tuesday, October 11, from 12:30 to 3:00 pm, and Monday, October 17, from 12:30 to 3:00 pm, are the dates for Withington in Action (for Year 7 admission in September 2023 only).
Evening of Information for Sixth Form: Wednesday, October 12, 5:00–7:00 p.m.
The entire school will be open Thursday, November 3, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Whole School Open Morning on November 5 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Beyond the Classroom
Girls can participate in a variety of activities, and clubs are available for interests as varied as physics, history, chess, the arts, debating, sports, engineering, music, and more. Students at Withington have a wide variety of activities to choose from, ranging from Arts Award to Zoo Club. There are clubs that meet before, during, and after school, and late bus services are available so that girls can easily get home after after-school activities are finished.
