FAQ

  • How will my daughter be evaluated by South Hampstead?

Each 11+ application has three components. All applicants will be invited to take the ISEB Common Pre-Tests as the first step in the process. The second component is the school reference; in late November, we submit an application to each applicant’s school asking for a reference or input on your daughter’s social and academic development. The interview is the final component, and we will invite as many candidates as we can for interviews in January.

  • What are the Common Pre-Tests for the ISEB?

Four modules make up the online exams: verbal, non-verbal reasoning, English, and maths. They finish in two and a half hours. They are age-standardised exams that aim to determine both potential and accomplishment.

  • How ought my daughter to study for the exam?

To boost applicants’ confidence, it’s crucial that they be aware of the nature and format of the exams. On the ISEB website, there are materials for familiarisation as well as in-depth information for parents. While some practise may aid youngsters in developing confidence and a sense of security regarding what is expected of them, repeated practise is not suggested, according to the ISEB website. (NB. Common Entrance at 11+ is also mentioned on the ISEB website. Please be aware that the exam we are utilising is very different from this one.)

You can also do mock exams to get ready for the nature of the exams.
