Sir William Perkins’s School is an independent day school for girls aged 11-18, located in Chertsey, Surrey, England. The School was founded in 1652, Chris Muller is the headmaster of the School. The school has a capacity of 620 and educates around 585 girls. In 2022 GCSEs, 44% of grades 9, 87% of grades 9-7, 30% of students achieved all Grade 9 and 8, over half achieved all Grade 9-7. In 2022 A Levels, 100% Pass, Over 91% of grades A*-B, Almost 80% of students achieved A* to B, 70% of grades A* or A. 100% A* or A in Computer Science, Art & Design and Languages, 100% A* in PE, 60% A* in Physics, 50% A* in Maths, 39% of students achieved a clean sweep of A* / A.

Sir William Perkins Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

Parents should fill out the school’s registration form if they want their daughter to be evaluated for admittance into Year 7 (11+). By the end of October the year before entrance, this must be submitted to the school together with a non-refundable registration fee of £100. (while your daughter is in Year 6).

Students are accepted into Sir William Perkin’s School based on their achievement on a formal, paper-based admission exam and a report from their previous school. All enrolled applicants receive an application package in the middle of November for the January exam, which is held. The application pack contains information about the exam day as well as information regarding bursaries and scholarships.

2023 Sir William Perkins 11 Plus Exam Format 

The following tests are included in Putney High School’s Stage 1 11+ exam:

English (online) 

Mathematics (online)

The English examination looks at vocabulary and inference as well as comprehension abilities.

The maths test evaluates your child’s aptitude for computation and problem-solving.

Putney High will conduct a formal interview with a senior staff member as part of the Stage 2 11+ test. For further information and suggestions on how to be ready for the Putney High School 11+ admission exams, please see the section below.

Sir William Perkins’s Bursaries and Scholarships 

Scholarships may be worth up to a 50% tuition fee reduction for academic awards and up to a 25% reduction for other awards. They are given in recognition of achievement and potential.

The information packet that is issued to each applicant prior to the admission exam contains details about the auditions for the Art & Design, Drama, Music, and Sport scholarships, which are typically held around the end of January. Year 7 and Sixth Form entrance requires the completion of an application form for these.

Open Days

Open Mornings are held on-site and feature an introduction to SWPS by the head, Mr. Muller, an opportunity to speak with him and other senior staff members while enjoying refreshments, and a tour of the school guided by the student ambassadors.

FAQ

How many positions are open at SWPS?

For the 96 spots we have open in Year 7, we get more than 200 applications. Additionally, we provide a handful of Year 9 postponed spots for students in 13+ schools.

Do you have approved feeder institutions?

Every year, we get applications from more than 80 primary, prep, and junior schools, with a well-balanced mix of state and independent institutions. Our pupils establish new acquaintances right away and begin their school careers on an equal basis.

What time frame do registrations for Year 7 have?

Applications must be submitted by Year 6’s 1st of October. They may be finished at any time prior to this date.

We charge a £100 registration fee.
