About 1480, William Waynflete founded it as a part of Oxford’s Magdalen College. The school is primarily divided into the Junior School, Senior School, and Sixth Form; the Senior School additionally distinguishes between the Lower School and Middle School. Second and Third Form attend Lower School, while Lower Fourth, Upper Form, and Fifth Form attend Middle School.

Magdalen College School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry
You must enrol your son in the school in order for him to be taken into consideration for 11+ entrance. On the school’s website, there is an online portal that is used for this. By the end of October of the year prior to entry, the school must receive the completed registration form and payment of the £100 registration fee.
The entrance tests are held in January. Candidates for admission will be invited back to the school for a 30-minute interview based on how well they perform in these.
Placement offers are made in February, and accepting one entails paying a £1,000 deposit.

Magdalen College School Bursaries and Scholarships
- Academic Exhibitions and Scholarships are given to students upon admittance into the Senior School or on an internal basis to recognise their potential and merit.
- Scholarships in music, art, and sport are offered to 13- and 16-year-old applicants through application.
- Scholarships for drama are offered to internal and foreign applicants from the age of 16 and beyond.
- A selection of students with exceptional academic potential who are also projected to significantly contribute to the school’s extracurricular activities are given All-Rounder Awards.
- A student receives a Governors’ Presentation Award when they first enrol in school to recognise their talent and promise, which may one day lead to the award of a scholarship or an exhibition.
