Leicester Grammar School is a state-funded grammar school, it was founded in 1981 by Hugh C.T. Staunton, Brian T.C. Small, Michael D. Kirk and Christopher Castleman. The School is one of the UK’s top-performing co-educational HMC independent schools for pupils aged 11-18. The school is now based in Great Glen, South Leicestershire. The School now educates around 1,294 pupils, more than 200 of them are sixth formers. In 2022 GCSEs, 81% of all grades were at 7-9. Nine pupils from a cohort of 119 were rewarded with the coveted grade ‘9’ in all their subjects. In 2022 A Levels, half of the cohort of 100 achieved at least 3 A levels at grade A* or A. A remarkable 17 were rewarded with at least 3 A* grades, and five students gained 4 A* grades. Two pupil achieved addition A* for their Extended Project Qualification.

Leicester Grammar School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

You must submit an application form by the deadline in November of the year before entrance for your kid to be taken into consideration. The completed form must be sent to the school together with a non-refundable registration fee of £75 and a copy of the child’s birth certificate. The paper-based and online components of the LGS entrance test are administered in the first few weeks of the entering year. Successful applicants will be invited to the school for an interview. 

2023 Leicester Grammar School 11+ Exam Format 

The following tests are included in the LGS 11+ entrance exam: English, CEM Select and Mathematics

Maths, measurement, geometry, algebra, and statistics-related multiple-choice and standard format questions will be on the test. Leicester Grammar School Bursaries and Scholarships 

The goal of scholarships is to recognize exceptional intellectual, musical, artistic, or athletic skill and promise. Termly fees range from 5 to 10% of the value of scholarships. Bursaries are meant to help students who otherwise couldn’t afford to attend the school. Depending on the family income, bursaries might range from any amount up to 100% of the termly charge.
