Emanuel School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry
Your kid must be registered at Emanuel School by paying a £145 registration fee that is not refundable. Following submission of the application, the admissions office will contact your child’s present headteacher to obtain a recommendation within around two weeks. In addition, the offer will be subject to:
a positive school report, good scores on the admission examinations, and a positive interview.
There are three papers in the admission test. The 20-minute interview takes place in the autumn of the year prior to admission.
2023 Emanuel School 11+ Exam Format
At Emanuel School, the 11+ test consists of the following papers:
English, Verbal Reasoning and Mathematics
The English paper is an hour long and assesses your ability to write clearly and correctly using grammar, vocabulary, and inference. The maths test is an hour long and evaluates problem-solving and arithmetic abilities using standard format questions. There is no use of calculators. The 45-minute Verbal Reasoning Paper is primarily intended to test and evaluate logical reasoning, use of the English language, and vocabulary.

Friday 14th October 2022, midday | Deadline for receipt of educational psychologist reports (if applicable), which are required to assess if a candidate qualifies for extra time or the use of a computer in the entrance exams. |
Friday 14th October 2022, midday | Deadline for receipt of a copy of the applicant’s end of Year 5 school report. Please note this is not sent by the primary/prep school – it must be sent by the parents and can be posted as soon as it is received. Please do not scan and email as a hard copy is required. |
Friday 11th November 2022 | Deadline for receipt of scholarship and fee assistance applications. All sections of the application must be received by this date, including references. |
Friday 2nd December 2022 | 11+ entrance exam. Details of exact timings will be sent in November. There will be a reserve date – please enquire about this if needed. |

Emanuel School Bursaries and Scholarships
Scholarships are available at all entrance levels and are given to students who demonstrate extraordinary potential in the fields of academics, music, sport, theater, and the arts. Depending on financial need, scholarships can range from 10% to 50% and can be paired with fee assistance awards to provide a totally free place. A student may hold many scholarships at once. Please be aware that before submitting an application for a scholarship or bursary, all applicants must be registered candidates.
Open Days
We urge prospective parents and students to go through our online resources and stop by an open house to learn more about the school. You will hear from the senior teachers, members of the admissions staff, and the headmaster, Mr. Milne, during your visit. The students will also give you a tour of the school. We will only be able to accommodate families that are thinking about 10+/Year 6, 11+/Year 7, or 16+/Year 12 enrollment for September 2023 due to the tremendous demand we get from potential families to tour the school. Please don’t register to attend if you plan to start classes in September 2024 or later.
