Bristol Grammar School Admissions Guide for 11+ Entry
Your kid will go to an interview with a staff member after submitting an application for Year 7 to talk about their interests, hobbies, and academic work. Additionally, a valid school reference will be required. Then, your child will take admission exams that are administered on paper. The total cost of the registration fee and the acceptance deposit is £25 and £300, respectively.
2023 Bristol Grammar School 11 Plus Exam Format
The parts that make up Bristol Grammar School’s 11+ exam are English comprehension, maths, and English writing. The English comprehension paper is in the multiple-choice format. For the English writing paper, marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure. The maths exam, also in the multiple-choice format, tests problem-solving and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
Bristol Grammar School Bursaries and Scholarships
Students who are given a BGS Scholarship starting in September 2023 will join the Scholars Programme and receive an annual stipend to assist their growth in the subject of their scholarship, providing them access to a variety of experiences that will extend and challenge them. For entrance into the Senior School and Sixth Form, scholarships are offered.
Everyone who is enrolled in school (including scholarship recipients) is entitled to apply for financial assistance. Whether you need assistance with 10% or 100% of the costs, the means-tested bursary award system offers a range of financial support. Where necessary, further financial support is also available for uniform, equipment, travel, vacations, and other ancillaries.
Open Days
The annual Senior School Open Evening will be held on Friday, October 7, from 4 to 8 p.m., if you’d like to attend. You will get the chance to meet the students and staff, hear from the headmaster, Jaideep Barot, visit the school, and learn more about the numerous options BGS has to offer.
