Brighton College is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18 in Brighton, England. The school has three sites: Brighton College; Brighton College Preparatory School; and the Pre-Prep School.In 2022, 94% of Brighton College students’ GCSE examination grades were 9-7/A*-A. 9/8 (A*): 80%, 9/8/7 (A*/A): 94%, 9/8/7/6 (A*/A/B): 99%

Brighton College Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

The deadline for registering is in November of the year before admission. The admissions team can provide forms, which must be returned with a registration cost of £160. The following December is when the 11+ tests are given. Please be aware that your child will also be expected to attend the January interview and activity day. Later that month, offers are made public and must be accepted with a £2,000 deposit (for UK pupils).

2023 Brighton College School 11+ Exam Format 

There are 4 parts in 11+ exam at Brighton College: 

  • Maths (multiple-choice) (multiple-choice) 
  • English proficiency (multiple-choice)
  • English proficiency (standard format and a creative writing piece)
  • Reasoning both verbally and intangibly

The English exams look at reading comprehension and writing ability, while the math exams look at problem-solving and arithmetic ability. The Non-Verbal Reasoning test is meant to gauge a person’s capacity for comprehension, interpretation, and problem-solving rather than knowledge. The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily intended to test and evaluate your child’s use of logic, vocabulary, and the English language.

Brighton College Bursaries and Scholarships 

Scholarships for 11+

They offer scholarships to everyone. Following a child’s registration for a spot at the College, they will provide you information on how to apply for one of the four available scholarship options. In the January of the year preceding to entrance, assessments are conducted (the January of Year 6). The Academic Scholarship is immediately applied to every student that registers.The Junior Scholarship, which is our most popular scholarship for students entering at this level, is appropriate for students who excel academically and have a secondary interest in at least one of the five fields of athletics, music, art, dance, or theatre. Anyone interested in the game of chess is welcome to apply for the third scholarship they give at this level. It is typical for applicants to play chess for both their school and country. At 11+, Brighton College also provides a Choral Scholarship.

Sport for everyone is a core value of Brighton College. All students are catered for, and for those who prefer competitive sports, their school is a top contender in England. The school’s arts calendar is jam-packed with a variety of music, dance, painting, and theatre events that students can participate in. This includes a carol service, frequent music concerts and art exhibits, student-directed productions, and the yearly musical in November.
