Badminton School is an all-girls independent boarding and day school for pupils aged 3 to 18. The School is located in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, England. The School now educates around 550 pupils, 180 of them are boarders. The School is designed with a Senior school, junior department and prep school. In 2022 GCSEs, 87% of all grades awarded were at A*-A / 9-7 with approximately a third of all grades awarded in reformed subjects at the highly coveted grade 9. In 2022 A Levels, 25% of all grades awarded were A* with departments such as Further Maths achieving 75% A*A and 95% of the girls have achieved the university place of their choice.

Badminton School Admissions Guide for 11 Plus Entry 

For UK Applicants

On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, entrance exams for admission in September 2023 will be held at Badminton, and on Thursday, January 12, 2023, scholarship exams. All female students complete an online Cognitive Ability Test in addition to English and Math exams. Each female will also be interviewed by a senior staff member. Additionally, the girls’ present school provides references. The application form contains details on the scholarship assessment.

For International Applicants 

The UKISET is the desired entry exam, and it must be taken by Friday, December 30, 2022, in order for the results to be taken into consideration. Candidates from abroad who meet the initial evaluation requirements will be invited to a video conference interview with a senior member of staff. As an alternative, ladies may choose to take the Badminton entry exams on January 11, 2023, in a few carefully chosen testing locations throughout the world.

Badminton admission examinations must be taken and, in certain cases, the Scholarship Assessment will only be conducted at the School if a candidate is from outside the United States. To learn more, get in touch with the admissions team.

2023 Badminton School 11+ Exam Format 

There are three parts to the 11+ admission test for the Badminton School:

  • English-language paper
  • written paper in mathematics
  • Online test of cognitive abilities

While the maths exam measures arithmetic and problem-solving ability, the English paper assesses comprehension and writing abilities. Schools employ the cognitive abilities exam to evaluate students’ acquired skills and likely academic potential. It is a computer-based test that comprises several multiple-choice questions that evaluate reasoning abilities in the verbal, nonverbal, mathematical, and spatial domains.

Badminton School Bursaries and Scholarships 

For girls with specific skills, there are scholarships and exhibitions that come with fee waivers. The entrance exams and assessments are administered simultaneously. Senior & Sixth Form Open Morning: Friday 24th February 2023

Taster Days: Taster Days are a fantastic chance to meet the Badminton School’s current students and get a taste of life in your prospective Form Class. It is a wonderful opportunity to practise our method of learning in a laid-back setting.

Students are welcome to enrol for the day on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, in preparation for entering Year 7 in September 2023.
