Preparing for Aquinas Diocesan Grammar 11+ Exam

GL Assessment develops the Aquinas Diocesan Grammar School Transfer Test. Children must take two English and Math tests to be in the running for a spot at the school.

Each assessment paper is divided into two parts: a practice assessment and a major assessment. All questions are multiple-choice. The purpose of the practice exam is to provide kids a chance to become accustomed to the format of the questions on the real test.

Maths: A practise assessment with three questions for familiarisation and six practise questions precedes the maths paper. The three acquainting questions are gone through with the kids. After that, they get an additional 10 minutes to do the final six practise problems. The students then have 45 minutes to complete the main examination, which consists of 45 questions.

English: The English paper starts with a practise test that consists of a brief reading passage with three familiarisation questions (comprehension) and seven practise questions (four spelling questions and three punctuation questions), taking around 20 minutes to finish in total.

The main evaluation then starts, and pupils have 50 minutes to complete 60 questions. There are three reading portions on the test, and several comprehension questions follow each passage. There are also several questions on punctuation and spelling. A few generic questions are asked towards the end of the article.
