2023 St Helen and St Katharine 11+ Exam Format
The following three exams are part of the entrance evaluation for St. Helen and St. Katharine:
Mathematical thinking, problem-solving, and arithmetic are all tested in the maths paper, which primarily covers the Year 6 Programme of Study of the National Curriculum. To guarantee that they receive the most points possible, candidates should provide thorough working and/or reasoning for each question. Calculators are not permitted.
English: Reading
The reading assignment consists of a text passage followed by a range of questions to assess all aspects of comprehension, including knowledge of the language used and comprehension of the author’s aims.
English: Writing
The writing assignment gives students a choice of projects to assess their discursive (persuasive/argumentative) or creative writing abilities. Candidates will be evaluated on formal skills, including inventiveness and formal skills including structure, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
